FAQs
What is permanent/welded jewelry?
"Permanent" jewelry is a piece connected with a micro weld rather than a clasp - we do not weld anything to your skin! Despite the broad use of the word "permanent," the piece can be cut off, so we prefer the term "welded." The chain may also break if placed under great stress or a tough snag; this actually protects both your body and the chain, and the piece can be re-welded.
What are the chains made of? Will they tarnish?
We offer .925 sterling silver, 14k gold-filled (14k gold upon request). These are best for permanent jewelry. Unlike gold-PLATED jewelry, our chains are beautiful, durable, hypoallergenic and are highly resistant to tarnish! All metals do tarnish as they're exposed to chemicals and dirt on our body (such as lotions, sunscreen or sweat) or in the air/environment. Regular cleaning and polishing will help to slow tarnish and keep the piece looking its best. We carefully select our suppliers to make you’re getting a high-quality product.
Can I get a clasp instead of a weld?
Absolutely! Clasps are a great way to design a beautiful that you can take off when needed. It can also be welded later if you change your mind. This is a great option for children because they’re so active and growing!
What if I need to take it off?
No problem. You can cut the chain with wire cutters and some with scissors. We suggest cutting where we added a connecting link - we’ll show you where this is at the time of weld! If you’d like to replace it with a clasp or have it re-welded, we can do so for a small fee. If you need it removed for a surgical procedure or MRI, stop by one of our pop-up events and we will re-weld it for free.
Can I go through TSA with it on?
Yes! No problem there.
Will a spray tan ruin my chain?
It won't ruin the chain, but it may dirty the appearance. You can rub it with a polishing cloth to get that shine back.
Regular bathing will also renew any dulling due to tanning.
Can my child get permanent jewelry?
We will put a permanent piece on children 13 years and older, though we do ask you to consider their activity (sports, etc.) level. For highly active or younger children, we recommend a piece with a clasp. We can also extend the piece as your child grows by adding more chain or connecting charms.
How long will the weld last? Is there a warranty?
We don’t offer a warranty simply because everyone’s lifestyle is vastly different. Because of this, it’s hard to tell how long the piece “should” last.
With proper care, the weld will stay strong and we use argon gas during the weld to amplify chain integrity. *If the piece breaks AT the weld or if your chain needs to be cut off for a medical reason, we’ll re-weld for free!
